BLUFF COVE LAGOON

There are excellent opportunities for panoramic photographs of Stanley, outlying countryside, mountains, harbour and coastline.

30 minutes by road, 30 minute off road journey in Landrovers to 1000 Gentoo penguins. A maximum of 4 passengers per vehicle.

This trip will give a taste of traditional Falklands off road driving skills and a view of typical sheep farming country. Magellanic penguins also nest in burrows close by and the rookery is occasionally visited by up to 5 King penguins.

This site is very photogenic with a large lagoon and long sand beach which is occasionally patrolled by Sea Lions from a nearby island. From December there is a colony of Magellanic gulls with Dolphin gulls and South American terns nesting amongst them. Relax in the Sea cabbage cafe with complimentary homemade cakes and coffee, with beautfiul views of the beach. There are also restrooms in the cafe.

60 minutes at the site allows plenty of opportunities for photographs or a stroll along the beach.
